AAKS is an accessories brand created by Ghanaian designer, Akosua Afriyie-Kumi. AAKS bags are combine raffia and leather in their designs and showcase the weaving techniques of women from Bolgatanga, a northern area of Ghana. The AAKS brand celebrates the craftsmanship of African artisans. Together with the Ethical Fashion Initiative, Akosua participated in a mentorship trip to Burkina Faso where she received feedback and guidance from Franca Sozzani and Simonetta Gianfelici and the met with fellow emerging African designers and she presented her collection at the IED Moda graduate show in Milan.
