The Ethical Fashion Intiiative selected three emerging African fashion brands to participate in the Instituto Europeo di Design (IED) Graduate show. A A K S, Radford Collective and Joint Collective presented their collections at the event. Each designer had received guidance and feedback from the Ethical Fashion Initiative’s team, helping them develop and push their creative vision. Swiss brand, PortenierRoth also presented their collection which was made using fabric hand-woven by artisans in Burkina Faso.
Akosua Afriyie-Kumi of A A K S, said about her participation in the event and the African Designer programme: “I am extremely happy with all the support the Ethical Fashion Initiative has given and continue to give to designers in Ghana. I will never forget inspirational trips to Burkina Faso and working hard to showcase in Milan. This has helped shape my brand in the right direction.”
