Spanish shoe brand Camper is known for its unconventional yet easy-to-wear designs. Camper and the Ethical Fashion Initiative began working together in 2015 on a footwear collection produced at a leather tannery and factory in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In 2017, Camper and Ethical Fashion Initiative launched a second limited-edition collection made featuring tie-dye leather in Ethiopia. The first collection was released for Spring/Summer 2016.
Through a mutual exchange of knowledge, Camper has supported the Ethiopian tannery and its artisans improve and expand their skillset to develop their technical footwear capabilities, whilst Camper has gained access to unique regional techniques and materials from Ethiopia. The collaboration also helps to improve workers’ access to employment, knowledge, and skills.
