Wool and Mohair Bootcamp starts November 2026

Calling all Basotho creative entrepreneurs: if you run a business or are ready to start one, this is for you.

Wool and mohair are among Lesotho’s most valuable exports, but turning that value into local jobs depends on the artisans, designers and entrepreneurs who work with them having the business skills to reach international buyers.

The Bootcamp is the entry phase of the Wool and Mohair Accelerator programme, implemented by the International Trade Centre’s Ethical Fashion Initiative under the Wool and Mohair Value Chain Competitiveness Project (WaMCoP). The training programme is co-delivered by the Ethical Fashion Initiative and ITC’s community for young entrepreneurs –  Ye! community.

What is the Bootcamp

Starting November 2026 and running through February 2027, the Bootcamp is a free, three month training programme. It is open to anyone in Lesotho: artisans, designers, students, and entrepreneurs, whether or not they already work in wool and mohair. No prior sector experience is required. What matters is drive.

Over three months, participants build core business skills, sector specific knowledge, and the practical tools needed to work with international buyers.

Is this bootcamp for me?

The Bootcamp is a business programme. It is designed for people who:

  • already sell products or services in wool, mohair, fashion or craft, whether formally registered or not,
  • or those who have a clear idea for a business in the sector and want to start it.

It is not a craft or technical skills course. We will not teach spinning, weaving, knitting or other techniques. The focus is on running and growing a business: costing and pricing, product development for buyers, marketing, finance, and meeting export requirements.

The programme is intensive and participatory: participants should expect to commit meaningful time each week to training sessions, assignments, and mentorship activities throughout the three months.

What happens after

The strongest graduating participants will be selected to progress into one of two tracks, with further training, mentorship, and support to reach new markets:

  • Build & Strengthen Track, for early stage businesses building their foundations.
  • Scale & Grow Track, for more established enterprises ready to expand.

How to register

There are two ways to register.

Online. Complete the registration form here before October 11 2026.

In person. A national Roadshow is bringing registration support directly to communities across Lesotho, for anyone who faces barriers to registering online, whether due to internet access, digital literacy, language, or distance. Roadshow events are taking place across the country:

At each event, the project team will be on hand to answer questions and help with registration on the spot.
